Quick Lunch Hoagie
This quick and easy sandwich is a versatile crowd pleaser. Make it in minutes before the busy week starts and you’ll thank yourself on those hectic mornings when there never seems to be enough time.
Step 1: Slice Bread
Use a whole loaf of French bread and carefully slice lengthwise with a serrated bread knife to create top and bottom pieces of bread for your sandwich. Place one hand on top and use it to steady the bread as you carefully guide the knife though the loaf. Take your time and let the knife do the work as you use a sawing motion from one end to the other.
Step 2: Layer Cheese and Meat
Layer the cheese on the top (upper) half of the bread overlapping slightly as you go. Layer the meat on the bottom half again ovelapping.
Step 3: Put the two halves together
Work quickly and if any of the meat or cheese slips out of place simply recenter it.
Step 4: Cut it
Use your serrated knife to cut as many pieces are appropriate. You can vary sizes to the appetites of whomever will be eating it.
Step 5: Wrap it
Wrap each piece in plastic wrap and refridgerate until you’re ready to pack lunches.
